Susan Segar counsels large financial institutions on
matters involving domestic and non-resident alien
withholding and reporting issues. Mrs. Segar was
instrumental in bringing several clients successfully
through the IRS’s Section 1441 Voluntary Compliance
Program, and continues to represent clients in tax
audits on withholding and reporting issues. Mrs. Segar
also works closely with foreign counsel in devising,
implementing and administering tax-efficient asset
holding structures for foreign individuals. Mrs. Segar
has also provided tax advice to multinational
corporations on a wide variety of matters, such as
inventory cost capitalization under section 263A,
foreign tax credits, partnership tax, and state income
tax.
Prior to joining the firm, Mrs. Segar worked in the
National Tax Office of KPMG LLP, where she worked on
international tax issues. Mrs. Segar served as a law
clerk for the Honorable D. Irvin Couvillion of the U.S
Tax Court .
