Evan D. Wamsley

Tax Withholding and Reporting, International Tax, Structured Finance

Evan Wamsley joined the firm in March 2010. He represents clients in a range of withholding tax and international tax matters. He advises foreign and domestic clients on the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (“FACTA”) and assists clients in planning for implementation of
procedures for FATCA compliance. He has worked extensively on the development of the FATCA Diagnostic Survey™.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Wamsley practiced for eight years in the Washington, D.C. office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. His practice there focused on the international and domestic taxation of corporations, hedge funds, private equity funds and high net worth individuals. He has extensive experience with U.S. withholding tax issues faced by foreign persons and the structuring and implementation of foreign investments in U.S. assets.

Mr. Wamsley also has substantial experience with the taxation of real estate investment trusts and of tax-exempt organizations. He has successfully assisted clients in resolving tax controversies with the Internal Revenue Service and has represented corporations in the implementation of mergers, acquisitions and issuances of equity and debt.
