Duncan Brenan
Manager of the Legal Support Group
Duncan Brenan joined the firm as a Manager of the Legal Support Group in July 2008, specializing in project management and the use of statistical sampling and quantitative modeling in withholding, regulatory compliance, and litigation matters. He has an extensive background in the use of statistical sampling and quantitative modeling in tax withholding and reporting matters. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Brenan was a Manager in the Washington National Tax Services practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers (“PwC”). In 2002, he assisted in creating and expanding PwC’s statistical sampling tax practice, focusing particularly on federal tax deductions and U.S. international and domestic withholding compliance issues. Within the financial services sector, Mr. Brenan specialized in Section 1441 compliance matters, working with Qualified Intermediaries (“QI”) and U.S. withholding agents. He helped many QIs through several QI Audit cycles, and he successfully steered a number of U.S. withholding agents through the Voluntary Compliance Program. At PwC, Mr. Brenan worked on a broad range of economic and financial modeling issues, creating detailed tax calculators and cash-flow models. He also specialized in conducting quantitative research and analysis on legislative issues for both public and private sector clients. Mr. Brenan began his career in the State and Local Economics practice at the Barents Group in Washington, DC, where he developed micro-simulation and econometric models for a number of state and local governments. Mr. Brenan is not licensed to practice law.
